Comprehensive Exams
Our comprehensive exam will begin with a patient interview where our relationship can begin to take form and where we can determine your health goals. Our practice philosophy will be discussed and a review of your nutritional habits and medical and dental history will be done. Once you are comfortable we continue on to perform a head and neck exam, oral cancer screening, and intra-oral soft tissue exam. Your periodontal status, chewing system (TMJ), occlusion and bite will be evaluated. A tooth-by-tooth exam reviewing existing restorations, wear and decay will be performed. Last intra-oral photographs and digital radiographs. These records will provide a detailed picture of your health and will be reviewed with you.
Preventative Care Appointment
Our experienced Registered Dental Hygienists will perform your thorough dental cleaning. Depending on your oral health you may have scaling and root planning performed or an adult/child cleaning (prophy). At each hygiene visit your oral hygiene, periodontal status, caries risk, health history/medications, head and neck oral cancer screening will be reviewed so that we can reassess your health status.
Caries Risk Assessment
Your prevention visits at Mashni Dentistry will include a caries (cavity) risk assessment based off of your current oral health and oral habits. High-risk patients may undergo additional testing to determine bacterial content and salivary pH. Based off your results alterations to oral hygiene and nutritional habits will suggested as needed.
Sealants
Dental sealants are used routinely for prevention of decay on the biting surfaces of your back teeth. Often the back teeth we use for chewing, have deep grooves that are hard to keep clean. Sealants are a resin covering that fill in those grooves and help prevent cavities from forming.
